Monthly Safety Tips

March 31, 2008

There are many ways to prevent injuries either at work or while on the road. The key is to use your natural senses to avoid any potentially dangerous situations.

1. Move Right for Sirens & Lights

When the Fire Department is called to an emergency it is important that we respond quickly and safely.

If you are driving down the road and see the lights and sirens of an emergency vehicle in your rearview mirror, move to the right and stop to allow emergency vehicles to move easily down the road. Once the emergency vehicles have passed merge back into traffic when it is safe to begin driving.

Every time fire engines or aid cars are called to an emergency Fire Fighters are giving their all to help others. Do your part as a driver to help Fire Fighters do their job as quickly and safely as possible.

3. Preventing Office Injuries

In office areas, trips and falls are the number one cause of injury, and can be easily prevented. There are many different ways to prevent yourself from getting injured in the office including:

• Don't lean back in your chair
• Watch out for slippery surfaces
• Don't read while you are walking
• Walk
• Watch for unsafe conditions
• Keep the floor and walkway clear of cables

The workplace, just like anywhere else, can be a dangerous place if you are not careful. The key is to use your natural senses, so that you can avoid any potentially dangerous situations. Of course if any injuries do occur at the office, or in the workplace, be sure to report them immediately to RMP, and your supervisor. Call 911 if for all serious injuries.
